Justin Lurie
Founder and Partner
Justin’s professional background spans corporate strategy, finance, company evaluation, private-company advisory, and executive leadership.
His work has required him to assess businesses, financial performance, competitive positions, growth strategies, and market conditions—and to communicate those conclusions clearly to owners, executives, investors, and other decision-makers.
His earlier professional experience includes strategy and finance work with Pepco Energy Services.
Justin also serves as Chairman of API Houston, providing executive leadership to one of Houston’s largest professional energy organizations and engaging regularly with senior professionals across the region’s energy and business community.
Through published work, public commentary, and executive presentations, Justin has communicated complex commercial, financial, and strategic issues to varied audiences.
That combination of analysis, communication, and continuing responsibility is central to Sterling Concord’s work.
A company must be understood before it can be represented.
Financial statements are essential, but they rarely explain the complete company.
Justin’s approach combines financial analysis with an understanding of the company’s customers, operations, management, competitive position, vulnerabilities, and relevance to potential buyers.
The work begins with an independent assessment of whether the company is prepared, ownership objectives are realistic, and a credible buyer market exists.
When a company is prepared to enter the market, its transaction positioning must explain not only what it has achieved, but why its results, relationships, capabilities, and opportunities may matter to the right acquirer.
The transaction narrative must be persuasive, supportable, and grounded in evidence rather than exaggeration or unsupported projections.
Independent judgment begins before an engagement is accepted and continues throughout the transaction.
Senior responsibility remains direct.
Justin remains involved in assessing readiness, understanding the owner’s objectives, preparing and positioning the company, directing buyer strategy, evaluating offers, advising on financial and commercial terms, and guiding the major decisions through closing.
Additional industry or technical expertise may be brought into an engagement when appropriate.
Sterling Concord also coordinates closely with the owner’s legal, tax, accounting, and other professional advisers. Those specialists remain responsible for advice within their respective disciplines.
Justin remains responsible for Sterling Concord’s strategic and commercial advice throughout the engagement.
The purpose of this model is not simply to provide senior attention at the beginning of an engagement. It is to maintain continuity of judgment throughout the process.
An owner’s priorities extend beyond price.
For many owners, a company represents decades of work, personal identity, family responsibility, and enduring commitments to employees and customers.
Valuation is important, but it may not be the owner’s only consideration.
The reputation and intentions of the buyer, certainty of completion, treatment of employees, preservation of the company’s identity, transaction timing, and the owner’s future role may also influence the definition of a successful outcome.
Justin seeks to understand those priorities before buyers are approached because they inform the buyer strategy, evaluation of alternatives, negotiation of commercial terms, and advice provided throughout the engagement.
The purpose is not to impose a standard definition of success. It is to help the owner pursue an outcome that is financially credible, capable of completion, and consistent with what matters most.
